Bio
Irene Poole is a singer-songwriter and actor from Banff, currently based in Calgary. She has captivated audiences around the Bow Valley and beyond with her heartfelt lyrics and angelic melodies. Her indie-folk songs often take inspiration from nature, and from songwriting greats like Joni Mitchell and Brandi Carlile. Irene has performed several times at the Canmore Folk Festival and ArtsPlace Canmore; she has played outdoor venues, upscale lounges, coffee shops, and everything in between. Irene recently participated in the YYC Songwriter Showdown at Café Gravity (advancing to the Sweet 16), and did a winter Home Routes tour opening for Taylor Abrahamse. Irene's debut album, The Mountains and The Sea, recorded with JUNO-award-winning producer John D.S. Adams, was released in November 2024. The album has charted on CKUA, peaking at #13 on the weekly Top 30.

Irene can also be found singing with The Three Sisters, a new, Bow-Valley-based, harmony trio. The Three Sisters combines the talents of singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Heather Jean Jordan, Irene Poole, and Ji Won Baxter. Like many female trios before them, three unique voices blend to create musical alchemy, transcending genre or style. Named after the iconic local mountain range, rich harmonies and creative instrumentals form the bedrock for this trio as they traverse sonic landscapes, reaching breathtaking highs, otherworldly lows, and always carrying with them a light in the darkness.

Irene's acting has taken her across Western Canada, from puppetry to Shakespeare, and beyond. Some recent theatre credits include: Chariots of Fire (Rosebud), Love’s Heavy Burden (Shakespeare Co), May We All (42nd Street), and Next to Normal (New West), as well as several seasons doing summer Shakespeare with the Bard on Bower Festival, and the Canmore Summer Theatre Festival.

Through acting, singing, and playing her ukuleles, Irene aims to be a storyteller in everything she does.
